Each year the Hope for a Better South Carolina Foundation Scholarship Committee awards college scholarships to graduating Junior Civitans and/or Civitans enrolled in college that are residents of South Carolina.
The Hope for a Better South Carolina Foundation Scholarship is a competitive program. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic merit, commitment to the goals of Civitan showing exemplary service to community, and potential to succeed in the student's chosen educational field. Award winners must have a strong showing of academic merit and accomplishment in Civitan. Selections are based on information received from the application and the additional requested materials received with a postmark of no later than February 28, 2026. Information received is subject to verification by school officials.
Scholarships shall be awarded on an objective and non-discriminatory basis with neither race, creed, nationality, color, sex, age, nor disability being considered.
Decisions of the Hope for a Better South Carolina Scholarship Committee are final. Justification for recipient selections will not be released.

The Hope for a Better South Carolina Foundation was formed by Civitan Clubs in South Carolina to provide scholarships to deserving individuals and support charitable efforts in South Carolina.
In July 1995, the Foundation Fellows Program was established to aid in funding. The Fellows Program is available for any club, individual, family, or group to recognize another person by contributing $300.00 to the Hope for a Better South Carolina Foundation.
